  1.     Tell us, why LTA?

LTA has always been a great way to maintain relationships with my classmates as well as to develop new friendships with so many other alumni. I'm proud that four members of LT ‘07 went on to Chair the LTA Board because our connections and experiences were so valuable to us. As I think about it, not only do I have great affection for many of my class, but some very close friends of mine are folks who I met through LTA, even though they didn't have the good fortune to be members of the “Best Class Ever”.

  1.     For you, what separates LTA from other business leadership programs?

The quality and enthusiasm of the people involved. Leadership Tampa is geared towards people who have a demonstrated commitment to Tampa Bay. Anyone can focus almost exclusively on  work every day, or join organizations that can help them find more business. But LTA is geared towards people who give back to our community, regardless of how they give back, And I've always appreciated that.

  1.     Describe a time when the LTA experience impacted your life or career?

I think it's NOW!. Up until recently, my entire career had involved working for large, multi-division companies. But through LT and LTA, I met many small business owners and developed tremendous respect for their work and for involvement in the community. I'm sure it was a big factor in my decision to take the leap to lead Home Safety Solutions.

  1.     What is an LTA benefit you wish everyone knew about?

“Back on the Bus” or LT 2.0. Before COVID, about once a year LTA would do a 1/2 day session inviting the alumni to participate in a field trip reminiscent of a day we might have had during our LT classes. I always enjoyed those opportunities to learn about new developments in Tampa as well as the chance to spend time with friends, both old and new. I hope those programs start to be offered again soon.

  1.     Describe how the leadership journey will continue to shape you?

For years I’ve said that as a Tampa native I entered LT thinking I knew everything about Tampa, and walked out realizing I knew nothing. Each and every behind the scenes experience was eye opening, and introduced me to all sorts of ways to get involved with the community that I may not have thought of. Currently, I'm enjoying my chairmanship year of the newly rebranded ReliaQuest Bowl as well as serving as Treasurer of the Straz Center for Performing Arts Foundation.  I'm also looking back fondly on my experience the last couple years as Chair of St. Joseph's Hospital’s Foundation, and as a class member of Leadership Florida.

The LT leadership journey has taught me there are a lot of terrific organizations that can ignite your passion to give back enthusiastically to our community.  All you have to do is express interest.
