The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce honored our community’s military personnel at the 2019 Military Appreciation event, presented by USAA, on Friday, February 22 at Sheltair.  Danny Burgess, Executive Director of Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs gave remarks and Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Chamber leadership recognized the contributions of our local service men and women. This event represented the 21st year the Chamber has recognized our local military personnel for outstanding contributions to the greater good of the Tampa Bay community. 

 

The 2019 winners included:

6th Air Mobility Wing Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Technical Sergeant Brayden Foley

6th Air Mobility Wing Officer of the Year: Captain Ilma Vallee

927th Air Refueling Wing Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sergeant Susan Libertz

927th Air Refueling Wing Officer of the Year: Captain David Sidnam

Joint Communications Support Element Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sergeant Jasmine Howell

Joint Communications Support Element Officer of the Year: First Lieutenant Matthew Nixon

U.S. Central Command Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sergeant Thomas Whitten

U.S. Central Command Officer of the Year: Lieutenant Commander Scott Curtin

U.S. Special Operations Command Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Petty Officer First Class Ashley Bordelon

U.S. Special Operations Command Officer of the Year: Captain Joseph Pastrovich

The University of Tampa ROTC Cadet of the Year: Cadet Erika Roy

University of South Florida ROTC Cadet of the Year: Cadet Hunter Johnson
