Several candidates who participated in the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Political Hob Nob on July 16 won their race on August 26, Primary Day, or advanced to Election Day on November 4, 2014.

For the Hillsborough County Commission District 7 countywide race, Commissioner Al Higginbotham and Pat Kemp won the Republican and Democratic primaries, respectively. Stacy White won the County Commission District 4 Republican primary, and faces a write-in candidate on Election Day.

For judicial seats, Chris Nash, Michael Scionti and Laura Ward won their seats. Two more races will be decided on Election Day, each between Hob Nob attendees: Carl Hinson and Barbara Twine Thomas for 13th Judicial Circuit Group 8; Robert Bauman and Melissa “Missy” Polo for 13th Judicial Circuit Group 34.

Each of the three School Board seats will go to Election Day. District 2 will be a race between attendees Sally Harris and Michelle Popp Shimberg. In District 4, Melissa Snively advanced to Election Day, missing an outright victory by only three percentage points. In the District 6 countywide race, Dipa Shah advanced with incumbent School Board Member April Griffin.
